Knee & ACL Rehabilitation

From early recovery through to full return to sport

Whether you’ve had ACL surgery, another type of knee surgery, or you’re dealing with knee pain that’s never needed an operation, the same principle applies: recovery happens in stages, and rushing a stage tends to cost you time later rather than saving it. Toby takes referrals directly from orthopaedic surgeons and develops your programme around your current recovery, surgical guidance and individual goals. Regular strength and function testing helps determine when you are ready to progress.

ACL and post-surgical knee rehab

Recovery after ACL surgery is a long process, and it’s normal for it to take the best part of a year to get back to full sport safely. Toby follows a structured, criteria-based approach - progressing through each stage according to your knee’s movement, strength, control and response to rehabilitation - closely aligned with the Melbourne ACL Rehabilitation Guide, one of the most widely used ACL rehab frameworks among physiotherapists and surgeons. If you’d like to read more about the approach yourself, the full guide is free to view on their site.

Knee pain without surgery

Many knee problems can be managed successfully without surgery. Pain from general wear, minor meniscus issues, or patellar (kneecap) pain often responds well to the right rehabilitation programme, built around strengthening the muscles that support the knee and addressing the factors that may be contributing to the pain.

Working alongside your surgeon

Toby takes referrals directly from orthopaedic surgeons and is happy to work to a specific surgical protocol, keeping your surgeon updated on progress where needed.
