Post-Operative Rehabilitation
Rehab that follows your surgeon’s plan
Rehabilitation is an important part of recovering from surgery and returning to normal activity. Toby takes referrals directly from orthopaedic surgeons and works to their specific protocol, so your rehabilitation reflects the operation you have had, your surgeon’s guidance and your individual progress. If you’re recovering from knee or ACL surgery specifically, that’s covered in more detail on the Knee & ACL page.
Surgeries commonly rehabilitated
Ankle and foot surgery - including ligament repair and fracture fixation
Shoulder surgery - including rotator cuff repair and stabilisation procedures
Hip surgery - including hip replacement and arthroscopy
How early rehab works
The first few weeks after surgery are about protecting the repair while restoring movement safely - careful management during this stage provides a strong foundation for later rehabilitation. Toby will keep in step with your surgeon’s guidance throughout, and help you progress when your movement, symptoms and function show that you are ready.
Getting back to full activity
Once the early healing stage is done, rehab shifts to rebuilding strength and confidence in the joint, working towards whatever you’re aiming to get back to - whether that’s daily life, the gym, or your sport.
